Statistical Genetics
Yusuph Mavura, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Biomedical Data Science at Stanford University. His work investigates how genetic and environmental factors jointly shape real-world treatment response, using antihypertensive therapy as a model for precision medicine. By integrating genomic data with electronic health records, pharmacy data, longitudinal blood pressure measurements, and lifestyle exposures from large, diverse biobanks, he studies why treatments work well for some individuals but not others. Raised in East Africa, Yusuph is driven by the growing burden of non-communicable diseases in underrepresented populations and the gaps in evidence that inform their care. His research aims to build scalable, equitable frameworks that translate data into actionable clinical insight.
