Stephanie Rayner
Neurodegeneration (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis)
Stephanie is a post-doctoral research fellow from Australia who has focused the last 12 years of her career on understanding a devastating neurodegenerative disease known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) – a disease which was previously brought to public attention through the Ice Bucket Challenge.
Her fellowship brought her to the lab of Professor Aaron Gitler at Stanford University, to further understand key biological processes that underpin the disease, whilst also working on high-throughput screening methods that may help uncover new drug targets that could mitigate key disease events.
Outside of the lab, she enjoys hiking, cooking and painting.
