Soud Al Kharusi
Fundamental Physics
Soud is a physics postdoc at Stanford investigating fundamental questions in gravity. His current work uses neutron scattering in supercritical xenon to search for new forces beyond the Standard Model. Outside the lab, Soud developed Read the Room, an anonymous nonprofit social app which aims to map sentiment across the world.
Soud earned his PhD in particle astrophysics from McGill University, where he designed optical and radiation transport simulations for the nEXO double beta decay experiment and evaluated its sensitivity to galactic supernova neutrinos. His work was awarded the 2024 Canadian Association of Physicists Doctoral Thesis Prize.
Originally from Oman, Soud is also a snowboarder and enjoys making music with his band.
