Guankai Zhai's interest in supply chain resilience and small-firm strategy stems from his experience co-founding a hardware startup. There, he saw firsthand how fragile supply chains can stall innovation, sparking a fascination with how small enterprises in emerging markets navigate uncertainty. He aims to combine statistical analysis with fieldwork to generate actionable insights for entrepreneurs and policymakers. His ultimate goal is to help design systems and policy frameworks that level the playing field, allowing businesses everywhere to thrive. Guankai holds a degree in computer science from Cornell University.
