Andrea Flores Pérez

Bioengineering
Andrea is a PhD candidate in the Department of Bioengineering, where she focuses on developing novel 3D bioprinting techniques for engineering medical implants. Her research particularly focuses on using bioprinting to create customizable fetal implants for treatment of spina bifida. In addition to 3D bioprinting, Andrea also develops biomaterials and engineers stem cells for enhanced therapeutic effect of her bioprinted implants. Prior to Stanford, she was a technical scientist at AbbVie where she focused on optimizing the industrial biomanufacturing of monoclonal antibodies for enhanced titer production. She is passionate about creating technologies that offer a more personalized approach to medical treatments and aspires to launch a start-up inspired by her research. When she’s not in lab, she really enjoys exploring new places to eat and learning new languages.
